Spring Essentials hanging with the huies

Y’all know that I’m a fall/winter lover through and through especially living in Texas where it’s hot as all get out during other seasons.
After having the boys my attitude towards warmer months started to change as I noticed some positives springing up once spring arrived (oh yes that pun was so intended)

Warmer weather meant…….
more patio meals
trips to the playground
less worry over things like the Flu and RSV
bare footed babies
seeing my boys in shorts and tank tops!

Once I fell in love with the fun adventures the season brought I fully embraced spring and actually started to look forward to it!

So as I’m starting to warm up to the warmer months (again pun so intended) I’m falling in love with “Spring Themed” items.

Today I’m going to share a few of my faves that help add a little spring to my step (yep and that one too).

As usual I promise to keep this 100% random but full of things I 100% love!
There’s a little makeup, a little home goodness, and things that are so random they don’t even fall into a category.

Let’s dive in!

Spring Lip Colors Kendra Huie Hanging With the Huies

Fun Bright Lips:

From left to right:
– You’re All Mine: Bright Pink
– Peachy Beachy: Imagine coral and pink got together and had a baby. Yep that’s exactly what this color looks like!
– Eastend Snob: More of a neural mauve pink. This one would be beautiful on tons of different skin tones as it’s more of a natural pink.

Got to love a pretty bright lip for spring.
I’ve been a fan of Remmel London’s lip liners for the longest!

The colors they offer, the application, the way they wear, and of course the price makes make this drug store makeup lovin’ gal happy!

They go on like butta and to me feel more like a cross between a lip liner and a lip stick so often that’s how I use them.
I line and color in my lips then top with my most favorite chap stick.

Seriously let’s see some praise hands for Blistex Deep Renewal chap stick!
It gives your lips a little shine, has the slightest touch of mint, and wears well.

It’s good y’all reallll good!

And if you want to kick your lip look up a notch Loreal Paris released a new color called I Pink You’re Cute which I think they should have named Flamingo Pink because that’s what it looks like!

This is such a fun spring color!
Give your lips a good coating for a more bold look or lightly dab on with your finger for a pretty soft pink!

Bright Spring Cheeks:

Yes I know I’ve talked about Hard Candy’s Living Doll blush a million times but y’all it’s really that good!

I recently splurged on a Becca highlighter honestly thinking it would make its way onto this list because come on it’s a Becca highlighter.
Don’t get me wrong its a good highlighter but I still love and pull for my Hard Candy Living Doll more often and it’s a fraction of the cost.

To apply I use a fan brush and dust a tiny amount of the Living Doll on my cheek bones, down my nose, and on my cupids bow using it more as a highlighter than a blush.

We might need more praise hands for Wet N Wilds new blush formula specifically in the color Pearlescent Pink (the color is more true to what you see here that the one that’s linked).

It packs a punch so apply with a light hand and make sure you blend blend blend.
The color is beautiful and is said to be a dupe for Nars Orgasm.

Good By Dry Winter Skin:

I recently discovered Salis Skincare products and this gem has changed the texture of my skin.
You have to check our their Instagram page to read more about their story and products.

I bought a few other things from this line that I’m still testing out but this by far has caused the most noticed change in my skin by getting rid of the dryness and making my complexion look glowy and smooth.

I’m hooked!

PS…..Are you catching my stories on Snap Chat (Kendra_Huie)?
If so you saw me with a mask on my nose during a snap.
That was the Salis Blackhead removal mask!

Something for Those Sinus/Allergy Headaches:

I have awful sinus issues during Spring and along with that comes headaches.
A friend recommended that I dab a bit of doTERRA Peppermint Oil onto my temples to help with some ongoing headaches I had been having.

For those of you who aren’t into oils, I get it.
I was on the fence for a while as well.
I was also on the fence about Snap Chat and now I’m thinking Snap Chat just may take over the world!

I happened to have some peppermint oil on hand as it was sent to me as a gift so I took my friends recommendation and rubbed that dang oil on my temples not really expecting anything to happen.
Guess what?
In less than a minuet my headache was gone!

No kidding or fabrication here.
Y’all know I keep it real!

I’ve also been taking a whiff of peppermint oil at 4am when my alarm goes off to head to the gym and when that afternoon slump hits and I’m feeling sluggish!
It gives ya a nice little kick!

Picnic Blanket:

Yes I know random but Spring does scream picnics and if you search picnic food on Pinterest you’ll be planning a picnic outing ASAP!

We scored our picnic blanket at a thrift store and I love it so!
It’s HUGE and has a waterproof side just in case you set up shop in a damp area.

I keep it in our trunk so we’re always ready should we pass by a pretty area on a beautiful day and decided to stretch our legs which has happened several times!

Check out this DIY watermelon picnic blanket that Elizabeth over at Within The Grove created!
So stinking cute!

Fresh Cut Flowers Bring On That Spring Joy:

Never under estimate the joy that fresh cut flowers can bring into you home!

If you have a Trader Joe’s close by they rock at stalking beautiful and affordable flowers.
Go for the ones that have more of a wild flower look to them.
They’re usually cheaper and live longer.

I’ll hang out in the flower section at Trader Joe’s grab a few bunches and pretend I’m a florist when I get home!
I fill our mason jars with my finds and sprinkle my little creations throughout our home.

Instant spring!

I typically spend around $10.00 and am able to create 6-8 mini arrangements!

Fresh Scents For Your Home:

Yes y’all I am so getting into oils!
I can’t wait to start making my own cleaning and beauty products!

For now I’m just a newbie but Jessica over at MyHealthyPassion.com is holding my hand and showing the way!

Y’all know I love a pretty smelling home!
I’m always sharing my favorite candle scents over on Instagram

Well since I’ve gotten into this whole oil thing I’m digging using my diffuser to make our home smell yummy…..spring yummy!

Using oils in a diffuser is different than burning candles.
It still smells great but has more of a fresh light scent than that smack you in the face smell you can get from some candles.
I really like it!

Currently my favorite oils to use in my diffuser are…..

Wild Orange
a touch of Lemon

Oh gosh y’all it smells heavenly!
The PERFECT spring scent!

Document the Season:

You’ve got your home looking and smelling pretty, new spring makeup to try and your picnic blanket is in your car ready for that random spring adventure.

Now you just need to get set up to document the season!

The Project Life App is free crazy easy to use and a great way to make the most of all those phone snaps we take and do NOTHING with!

I waited 3 whole years for them to come out with this app for Android.
Up until now it’s only been available to Apple users.

The Project Life App takes the whole idea behind scrap booking and simplifies it….like super simplifies it!
This will be how I scrapbook all my phone snaps from our upcoming travels!

Annnnnnd because I love you so I wanted to send a little spring your way in the form of a giveway!

  • Windy - I plan to enjoy the season by planting flowers in our yard and we also make a little “fair” garden w/ my daughter. • Danielle Beinke - Hey girl! Loved your post and I’ll definitely be checking out some of these makeup items when I go grocery shopping this weekend 🙂
This Spring will be soooo different from every other Spring. Last year Addy was just a few months old so we didn’t get to quite enjoy the season (weather wise). BUT, this year I intend to do all the things! I see many trips to the park and zoo in our future along with dinners on the deck and weekends spent outside pushing her along in her cozy coupe! The girl just loves being outside like her mama. Nothing makes me happier than a 75 degree, sunny day. ALSO, I can’t even count the number of adorable rompers and dresses I’ve already stocked up on to dress her up in. Besides all that, the hubby and I are going to dig up and completely redo our flower bed so I’m excited to go shopping for some pretty things!ReplyCancel

    • Danielle Beinke - I forgot to mention that we’re going to buy a new grill because ours is about done for and I just love grilling up all kinds of yummy stuff for dinner!

Something I think you’d like – take a large portabella mushroom cap and put a little pesto inside, top it with a piece of cheese and stick it on the grill. So good!ReplyCancel

  • Brandi Golemon - I hope to go on many walks and fun family picnicsReplyCancel

  • Michelle E - With it warming up, we love doing family walks around our neighborhood! We make it a game, i.e. How many American flags do you see? How many blue cars did we see? Etc… DAlso, pack a lunch and head to the park-can never go wrong with time outside!ReplyCancel

  • Kiersten Butler - I plan on enjoying this spring with spending as much time outside as I possibly can. We usually do a vegetable garden, we took last year off because we had a newborn, but we plan on growing a lot of good yummy veggies this season! Time to get outside and get our hands dirty.ReplyCancel
